The author was born during that era of material scarcity. When suffering from a high fever as a child, the author mistook white laundry detergent placed on the windowsill for the milk powder that was eagerly desired but unobtainable. Therefore, upon witnessing this setup, it sparked my creative urge. I aim to create an intersection between the past and the present, with both a literal and metaphorical theme. By contrasting the working people from these two time periods, I aim to reflect the changes in material life between the past and the present. I selected four very ordinary individuals: one is a woman selling rice cakes who, during a break, leaves her stall to play with her phone under an old-fashioned bulletin board from the past; another is a man selling barbecue who steps out of his stall to smoke a cigarette, gazing at an old-fashioned television from that era, yet with a car key hanging from his waist. Their work clothes resemble the uniforms worn by workers who contributed to the country's construction during that time.
