The Herd Boys of Lesotho (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Lesotho is home to almost 30,000 shepherds, known locally as ‘herd boys’. Young men and boys as young as five are sent into the mountains for months at a time to tend to their herds. More than three quarters of Lesotho lies above 1,800m; climatic conditions are often severe and unpredictable. Herd boys protect themselves from the elements with their world-famous Basotho blankets and woollen masks. This series is a snapshot of some of the characters I encountered in Lesotho.
AUTHOR
In my late university years I picked up cycling, and fell in love how liberating it was to get out and see something that wasn't made of concrete or tarmac. This awoke a sense of adventure in me, and I needed to go further. After I graduated in 2018, I started regularly travelling internationally. Inspired by a car show presenter trio, I wanted to really go off the beaten path and see all the weird, interesting, and incredible things this world has to offer. In 2019 I brought my first camera, and since then have been capturing all of my favourite moments from my travels.
