DESCRIPTION
“42” is an abstract photographic collection exploring the intersection of time and imagery. By employing long exposure, the photographer condenses 42-second segments from films and TV shows into singular still images, blending dozens of frames per second into a unique visual loop. This process transforms dynamic narratives into abstract, repetitive patterns, blurring original meanings and creating new interpretations.
The work invites viewers to reexamine the relationship between time, memory, and imagery, contemplating the tension between fleeting moments and eternity.
AUTHOR
Kai Chung Hsu (ERR-ik) is a fine art photographer and visual designer. From 2012 to 2014, he studied at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, majoring in fine art photography. After returning to Taiwan, he immersed himself in fashion and band photography, and taught at the photography studio “Onfoto” (now known as for Storyteller). In 2020, he founded his own visual brand, ERR-ik, specializing in services including graphic design, still and motion photography, graphic animation, and post-production editing. His fine art photography often explores abstract or surreal styles, with a focus on black-and-white darkroom techniques and historical processes. Inspired by sci-fi films and rock music, he skillfully incorporates his personal feelings of melancholy and nostalgia through a unique creative perspective.
