On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, my creation, the #sediarossa®, became the centerpiece of a powerful installation by Mondadori at the red-lit Palazzo Niemeyer. The installation featured a single upright chair standing defiantly among 99 fallen ones, symbolizing the resilience of women and commemorating the lives lost to violence. This evocative imagery inspired the hashtag #inpiedicontrolaviolenza, which Mondadori adopted across all their communications to raise awareness about this critical issue.
The photograph, captured at dawn, emphasized the stark contrast between the solitary chair and its surroundings, embodying hope and resistance amidst tragedy. This image gained significant recognition as an emblem of solidarity and sparked dialogue on the importance of taking a stand against gender-based violence.
The project didn’t end with the photograph. It was further amplified through a compelling short film directed by Tommaso Casigliani, which brought the concept to life with a cinematic narrative, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.
This initiative was not just an artistic expression but a call to action, reminding the world of the urgency to combat violence against women and to honor those who continue to stand against it.
