Intimacy (Series)
DESCRIPTION
These photographs are the result and documentation of my performance work "Intimacy", held in Beijing (China) on the 4th of October, 2024. (Owning full copyright of all images and ideas produced) The work explores feelings of loneliness and belongingness, inspired by my life experiences living abroad in China for seven years as a young adult. Throughout the performance, a moldable medical material is pressed by our bodies to record the traces of the hug. Seemingly intimate at first sight, the warm embrace is in stark contrast with the cold material that hardens and takes shape during the duration of the performance, making it impossible for the participants to feel each other's bodily warmth. The material becomes at the same time a record of the bodies and the absence of them.
