Through my deep love for different cultures and their traditional dress, I set out to create a photography series that pays homage to the beauty and richness of Chinese heritage. Ornamental is a photography series that weaves together elements of Chinese tradition and contemporary artistry, featuring models dressed in exquisite Hanfu garments, paired with striking Miao accessories—symbols of China's rich ethnic diversity. The Chinese ornamental designs, typically found on classic vases, are beautifully adorned onto the models' skin, seamlessly integrating these intricate patterns with their attire.
The backdrop, reminiscent of vintage oil paintings, lend an aged, historical aura to the compositions, balancing the fresh modernity of my approach with deep cultural reverence. The series honours Chinese craftsmanship and heritage, presenting a visual celebration that bridges the old and the new in a sophisticated homage to Chinese culture.
