Conceptual nominee

Depression, the silent disease below surface. It's a constant batle/innerfight between giving up, fighting against, holding on, accepting, letting go, healing and conquer. During a depression it's so easy to get lost in darkness and torn yourself down. It feels like drowning, and like there's no end of the tunnel. That darkness within can be nonvisible or not clear to others, but that doesn't mean it's not there. The minute you decide to accept it, and deal with it, is the minute the light wil appear and you're on the right path for healing.

For years, I had periods with depression due to inner strugles concearning my past, combined with the auto immune disease of Hashimoto. I always tried to hide my depressions due to shame. Not talking about it, made the healingprocess longer. Those periods were difficult to go through, but made me stronger and who I am right now. With this project (graduation project for photographic design), I hope to rise awareness of depression, and maybe help somebody with their healing. In the same time working on this project have been therapeutical and benificial for my own healingprocess.

A dutch artist, working freelance worldwide in the mediums photography and floral art. Graduated as graphic designer , started in wedding/studiophotography. Changed careerpath (2011) into floral art, but kept working with photography. Discoverd fineart underwaterphotography in 2020. This combined with Floral art in the surreal world below surface, is the perfect comingtogether of photography and floralart. Finds inspiration in emotions, nature, and artdisciplines. Specialise in fineartunderwaterphotography with botanical elements
