"Parts Unknown" is a visual exploration of the fragmented self, an abstract, analogue black-and-white photography series that delves into the hidden, the repressed, and the refracted aspects of our being. Through the passage of time, as we grow and adapt, parts of ourselves become distorted—manipulated by external forces, dimmed by societal expectations and compartmentalized and lost within the depths of our memory.

This series seeks to evoke the tension between identity and detachment, between the raw, unfiltered force of our authentic selves and the veiled versions we present to the world. Each composition plays with light and shadow, movement and stillness, revealing an emotional landscape that is both deeply personal and universally human. The absence of color intensifies the focus on form, contrast, and texture, reinforcing the idea of identity stripped down to its most essential elements.

"Parts Unknown" is not just a reflection of what is lost but an invitation to rediscover what still remains deep down in ourselves, the life force waiting to be reclaimed – our authentic love.

Influences from Surrealism, Magical Realism, and the Bauhaus movement have been key in informing the playful and exploratory nature of Alex's practice, where the blurring of boundaries between mediums and disciplines feels natural.
