My project creates a powerful dialogue between light and shadow, deeply inspired by the great Baroque masters like Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Reynolds. These artists
skillfully used the interplay of light and darkness—chiaroscuro—to evoke beauty, drama, and a sense of theatricality. I aim to harness this technique to explore narratives
about culture, identity, and the passage of time. Through this balance of illumination and shadow, I invite viewers into stories that speak to both personal and collective
histories. My use of chiaroscuro lighting, combined with a deliberate focus on gaze and posture, draws heavily on the traditions of early portraiture. Like the Baroque
painters, I strive to imbue my images with historical weight while anchoring them in contemporary realities. Each photograph becomes a conversation between past and
present, blending classical aesthetics with modern perspectives. This fusion allows me to create a body of work that speaks to lineage while reflecting the fluidity of
contemporary identity.
At the heart of my work is an exploration of origins—where the convergence of tradition and transformation, East and West, and past and future takes shape. I see my
photographs as a bridge between these elements, highlighting the timelessness of cultural heritage while celebrating its evolution.
