Over the last year I have been attempting to make sense of life through my garden, looking for signs and meaning in my imagery. I have recently moved to Stroud, married my partner, and begun trying to start a family. My art has become a means to understand and process these changes.
Circles have come to represent my desire to form a spiritual connection with the natural world, my new start in Stroud, and my desire to become a mother.
The images are shot on 35mm film and then developed using my own handmade plant developer made with ivy from my garden. They are printed on metallic gold paper and then wrapped in my handmade lead and glass frames. The process of wrapping them in lead is significant as I am interested in taking something essentially 2D and transient like a photograph and turning it into something heavy and tactile.
