DESCRIPTION
My artistic work consists of building models of fictitious places that I draw and then photograph. As the aim is to show only the photographs.
Through photography, I seek to share my vision of these spaces. A point of view that becomes space.I'm not an illusionist; the idea is not simply to give the illusion of a real space.What interests me is to place the gaze between two spaces: real space on the one hand, and fictional space on the other. Where does the eye fit in? Models are simply and solely traces, traces of memories, souvenirs, inspirations and imaginations.Photography doubles these traces.
These traces can also generate a melancholy sensation in the shots. Emptiness also plays a key role in presenting this feeling.I draw a lot of my inspiration from painting. Giorgio de Chirico, David Hockney, Morandi, Christian Hidaka and Cy Twombly. They are among the artists I often look at, as well as the architect Luis Barragan, and the photographs of Anne Hardy, Luigi Ghirri and Wolfgang Tillmans.
With the models, I'm not trying to answer questions or find solutions. It's about sharing an experience that manifests itself through scale, texture, light, time, form and color.
AUTHOR
Maryam Pourahmad was born on August 5, 1991 in Tehran, Iran, where she grew up. In September 2010 she arrived in France to continue her studies in genetics. But after a year of studying and experiencing life in Paris, she decided to change course and continue her studies in Arts. After a year of preparatory school, she was accepted at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She obtained her diploma in June 2017 with the congratulations of the jury.
