This image was captured on a recent trip to Mexico's Riviera Maya. The Yucatan is filled with geologically unique underground caves that have been submerged, called cenotes. The cenotes are of significant cultural, anthropological, and tourism importance to Mexico and specifically, the Mayans. Mayan records had found descriptions of mermaids and mythical sea creatures. This images was captured at a cenote, underwater with the mermaid looking carefully (but not touching) the stalactite that pierces through the water's surface above her.
