The beauty of ferns (Series)
DESCRIPTION
For years I've been doing cyanotype and I feel ferns lend themselves especially well to this process as it brings out all the delicate details. I love the slow, thoughtful process which has a meditative quality. One is never quite sure what the result will be as it depends on the quality of light. I'm fascinated by the simplicity and complexity of nature which has always been my favourite subject. Whatever the mad world throws at us, Nature continues quietly doing her thing, completely unimpressed by us little humans. This continuity is a great comfort. This portfolio of fern leaves is a selection of my best cyanotypes, all taken in my own garden. The variety is utterly amazing and I can understand how the Victorians were crazy about the ferns. It was called Pteridomania and was very similar to the Tulipomania.
