Sim Yoonsuk blends painting and photography, creating digital works that explore the emotional and psychological aspects of human existence. Holding seven solo exhibitions and participating in various art fairs, she started integrating photography into her artistic expression after discovering its unique allure. Her works often focus on humanity's innate desires, societal norms, and the challenges posed by the evolution of technology, particularly the rise of AI and social media. She exhibited her digital and painting collaborations in Photodays.paris in 2024.
Photography captures real moments, granting permanence to fleeting instances, while painting is a process of prolonged maturation. The fusion of painting and photography is the most profound way I explore my thoughts. By expressing my self-portrait from two perspectives and merging them, I reflect on the complexity of life. This combination of methods also suggests that neither perfect truth nor absolute falsehood exists. The transition from painting to photography, and further into digital work, serves to unify my multidimensional vision and sensory experiences.
