Open Theme 2nd place winner

This series delves into story telling through portraiture. I used prints from my portraits of the subject (Lin), upon which I laid, wove and stitched threads and yarns; a physical connection to Lin’s love of textiles. The narrative is brought together with texture and pattern – visual representations of her displacement, her creative spirit, and her ongoing struggle toward self-acceptance. The series serves as a poignant exploration of Lin’s internal world: one of survival, resilience, and the slow painful unravelling to reclaim her identity after years of emotional turmoil.
