Sleeping by the River is a visual journey through the fading towns and villages along Hungary’s Sajó River. This series captures the quiet resilience of those who remain, set against a backdrop of abandonment and slow decline. Life lingers in stark frames—people stay, the river moves, and time carves its own path through the landscape. Inspired by classic documentary photography, the project offers an intimate, unsentimental look at a region caught between past and present, survival and disappearance.

I am a Hungarian-born Roma photographer living in London. My documentary photographs are centred around themes of human rights activism, LGBTQI+ and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) experiences. My photos have been exhibited in Berlin, Milan, Göteborg, London and at the Glastonbury Festival in 2022, 2023, 2024.
