This series of three photographs captures the essence of a small mountain village (Sosas de Laciana), in northern Spain, moments before a wedding at the groom's family home. The contrast between the majesty of the landscape and the ruggedness of the people portrayed reflects a world steeped in tradition and shaped by a little-known past.
As someone originally from this region, I have a deep understanding of its history and its connection to one of the world's major coal mining basins. This past, etched in the faces and gestures of the subjects, speaks of resilience, hard work, and an intimate bond with the land.
