Corpuscle (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Corpuscle is a photographic series that represents an analogy between the smallness of human existence compared to the immensity of the Universe, expressing concepts that develop from the contemplation of the world around us, in order to appreciate every small detail of this wonderful journey that is life. Produced from macro photography, abstractions of nature and self-portraiture, to create dreamlike scenes using the color red as a symbol of the strength of curiosity, reflecting on the magnificence of this world in the smallest of things.
Each artwork illustrates the essence of the corpuscle: Contemplation, Existence, Solitude, Time and Eternity. Establishing questions to ourselves such as: What is life? Through contemplation can we understand what this reality is? What are we? What are we made of? Are we stardust levitating in the darkness? Are we alone in the Universe? What is time and what is the purpose of measuring life through time? And if time did not exist, would we desire to be eternal? These concerns lead us to an abyss of possibilities for which we will never find the correct answer.
AUTHOR
Giovanna Preciado is a fine art photographer and visual artist from Mexico, whose work is based on the philosophy that in the little details is where the magic of life relies on. By using vintage locations and macrophotography to build unique scenarios where stories come to life. She produces surreal photographs with digital photo manipulation combining small items of nature and living life with self-portraits and portraits. Representing concepts as dreams, utopy, mystery, time and surrealism.
She explores the representation of our ability to create narratives that only exist in our mind. She is passionate about creativity and the power of imagination. Inspired by these themes in order to expand a sense of freedom in artistic production to contribute in our society with images that provoke wellbeing and illusion to the audience.
