Portrait nominee

This self-portrait represents my Spanish ethnicity, featuring the shawl (manton de manila) that my grandmother gifted me, typically worn by flamenco dancers. The florals, the colours and the movement all come together to celebrate a vibrant culture that I felt compelled to portray in an obvious manner, knowing all-too-well that my mixed-race background adds a layer of complexity that may make you pause and ponder, and hopefully opens up new levels of understanding.

I am a portrait photographer with a focus on fine art, and I use my creative skills to portray captivating visual stories. My diverse identity is at the core of what drives me to find new ways of showcasing beauty in complexity.
