Rhythm of Life on the Sea (Single)
DESCRIPTION
The offshore fixed-net fishing in Trà Vinh is one of the traditional fishing practices characteristic of the coastal fishermen in the Mekong Delta, clearly reflecting the rhythm of life at sea in this region. This profession is not only tied to the livelihood of the fishermen but also reflects the deep bond between humans and the sea. The fixed nets consist of large net bags that are anchored to the seabed by being attached to bamboo or wooden poles driven deep into the ocean floor. As fish move along with the current, they become trapped in the net bags. Each system of fixed nets typically has several rows of poles lined up parallel to guide the fish into the nets. When it's time to collect the catch, fishermen use small boats to harvest the fish from the nets.
