Two Faces (Single)
DESCRIPTION
The photograph comes from a long term project titled "Wet Markets" implemented in several dozen countries. The project documents the forms of killing animals, including ritual ones by local communities. The presented photograph was made in the suburbs of Havana, Cuba, showing the everyday situation of killing animals by a butcher. Like other photographs of the project, the face of a human being is never visible, it remains anonymous and invisible. It remains invisible, although it is visible in the face of a slaughtered animal. Few moments after killing, the pig's byle eyes are still alive and watching .... The powerlessness of poor societies is similar in all corners of the world. Small family stalls are a symbol of their everyday life. Among hundreds of circling flies, steamy air, a common lack of a fridge, this freshly cut head of a pig with still vivid blue eyes means a place where locals can buy a fresh, godd quality meat of. The photograph comes from the reportage "Invisible butchers”, documenting the practice of slaughtering animals behind the invisible doors of ordinary houses all over the world.
