Beijing is one of the great cities in East Asia that combines ancient history and modernity. The rapid changes here have altered the destinies of many people, while also bringing about a sense of powerlessness and humility for individuals in the face of the times. I keep roaming in the city, capturing the connection between people and the city and reading rich metaphors from them, thinking about how urban space shapes people's lifestyles and desires, and whether there is another world hidden under the surface of daily life. In this immigrant city of 20 million people, countless people come and go with their dreams and sorrows. I point my camera at the outside world, candidly capturing the complexity of urban life and the charming dangers lurking within it.

Chenglong Zhang is a Chinese filmmaker and photography artist. He graduated from Communication University of China and is currently engaged in the creation of feature films and documentaries. He works and lives in Beijing.
