From the skies above Shark Bay, Western Australia, the salt fields of Yallabatharra unfold like an artist’s palette — an abstract symphony of pink, ochre, orange, and green. These geometric pools, formed by the evaporation and crystallization of seawater, create a living canvas shaped by light, minerals, and microbial life.
In this series, I explore how nature and industry converge to produce patterns of unexpected beauty — where human precision meets organic transformation. The aerial perspective flattens the terrain into pure form and color, echoing modernist abstraction while remaining deeply rooted in the earth’s processes.
Each frame becomes a meditation on balance — between chaos and control, pigment and texture, order and erosion. The shifting hues, dictated by salinity and sunlight, remind us that even in the most engineered spaces, nature continues to paint. Captured in the stillness of flight, these images celebrate the planet’s quiet artistry — revealing the sublime design hidden within the ordinary.
Compositional adjustments were made using elements from within the same frame. No external imagery or AI-based tools were used. All tonal and structural edits were performed in Photoshop and Lightroom, with additional processing in external noise-reduction software.
