This image is from an extension of my photographic exploration of the refractive effects of oil and water combinations.
Many of my previous examples have been high contrast with a chiaroscuro effect but I decided to create an alternative set of lighter and more airy images (by reducing the contrast and creating softer pastel colours).
Creating and working with holes in the oil layer is challenging but allows exploration of the ideas of protection and sanctuary versus constraint and confinement.
