Streaks of electric light, motion, and emotion transform my New York City photography into a poetic, abstract vision. Through my unique “photo-paintings”, I explore light as memory, movement, and connection – revealing the city in a completely new way.
Born during a time of isolation, my work speaks of resilience, presence, and the beauty hidden in motion. My study in light motion began at the height of the COVID pandemic. I was trying to connect with the shutdown city around me. The streaks of electric light running through the dark skein of my neighborhood became that connection, a sign of life, something to hang onto.
My “photo-painting” experiment continues to date. Alchemic manipulation of speed, depth, and light sensitivity capture light in motion, creating painterly photographs. At times the light and movement is linear, at others a tangled interwoven abstraction. Each marvelously expressive, evocative of unique feelings and memories.
