Between Worlds is a quiet, reflective exploration of balance and belonging.
Balance, here, is understood as the coexistence of contrasts — light and darkness, movement and stillness, emptiness and form. Rooted in Chinese heritage and shaped by life in the United Kingdom, the work reflects a way of seeing that recognises not difference, but resonance — a blending that exists in the space between.
Between cultures, edges soften; boundaries blur and perspectives intertwine. What appears to separate can also connect. In this in-between space, the work lingers, attentive to moments where identity, perception, and place remain fluid rather than fixed.
Across the series, each image inhabits a different threshold — not as a fixed narrative, but as a state of transition:
• between striving and peace,
• between past and the unknown,
• between structure and vastness,
• between entanglement and stillness,
• between wilderness and city.
Together, the images offer a contemplative pause — an invitation to dwell briefly in the quiet space where contrasts meet, and meaning begins to emerge.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
My photographic practice is centred on the poetics of perception. Working primarily in monochrome, I explore how light, space, and tone can evoke stillness and emotional resonance. My work often moves between abstraction and representation, using familiar subjects as a starting point for quieter, more introspective encounters. Guided by sensitivity to rhythm, balance, and negative space, I am drawn to moments where meaning emerges through feeling rather than description. Each image seeks to make the intangible perceptible — offering a contemplative pause, and a quiet expression of what lies beyond sight.
