This work was created through the process of deconstructing the emotion of loneliness.
Human beings cannot live without engaging with others. Yet it is only when we truly face another person that we become aware of our own solitude. The moment we become conscious of our inner selves and the external other, we first experience loneliness. In everyday life, we repeatedly experience moments of entanglement, separation, and failure to connect with others. Even when we try to understand one another, sometimes we just can't.
Still, memories of the warmth of another's arm and the presence of others awaken a desire not to give up on mutual understanding and social connection.
This work carries a quiet wish—that those who are lonely now will not abandon hope.
