DESCRIPTION
An annual event held in Bristol, UK, is the International Balloon Fiesta, where hundreds of vibrant hot air balloons ascend into the sky over an extended weekend, featuring early morning and evening lift-offs.
Depending on the prevailing wind conditions, these balloons can drift off in virtually any direction, creating a dynamic and ever-changing spectacle. There are numerous opportunities to capture what is often a very colourful and captivating scene.
However, Hooper aimed first to create an image that would stand out in Black and White, focusing on transforming the scene into his distinctive style. He sought to produce a photograph resembling a silhouette, emphasizing a minimalistic and strongly contrasted perspective.
This particular shot was taken from a carefully pre-arranged vantage point, offering a panoramic view across the city as the balloons gracefully floated by.
