DESCRIPTION
Social media dominates our everyday lives and changes the way we communicate. We anonymously follow people on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, and we comment, chat, like or dislike content under a pseudonym. We are therefore connected, directly or indirectly, with a multitude of people we don’t even know in person. We might have interconnections with strangers passing by on the street that we are unaware of.
I have transferred my images on transparent plastic foils. For a 3D effect, I layered them and stretched threads of different colors in between, symbolizing those invisible connections. Each color represents a different emotion or attitude that defines the message:
green: hope and loyalty
yellow: optimism and happiness
orange: enthusiasm and fun
red: love and passion
rose: gentleness and softness
purple: glamour and mystery
lavender: romance and nostalgia
blue: reason and patience
brown: racism and rebellion
black: hate and violence
