Pfahlwerk (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Pfahlwerk is a series of minimalist black-and-white photographs of piles and small structures in water. Long exposures render the surface soft and still—leaving only a few forms, ample negative space, and a sense of time and transience.
AUTHOR
I was born in Germany in 1968 and have been taking photographs since the 1980s, back then still analogue and black and white. I developed and enlarged the photos myself in my own lab.
Then, a few years ago, I switched to digital and have a great love for minimalist fine art and black and white.
In my landscape photos, I try to make the silence and loneliness, sometimes even sadness, tangible.
For a few years now, I have been making large fine art prints, which has brought me full circle.
