DESCRIPTION

My artwork integrates both western and eastern influences; incorporating the technical beauty of 17th century still life painting along with wabi-sabi; a Japanese worldview centered on celebrating imperfection, simplicity, and flawed beauty. I imbue each piece with an element of struggle or tension, counterbalanced with serenity and modesty. Much of my still life work takes a critical view of man's constant quest to manipulate nature, and nature's ability to sustain its beauty despite our interference. My photography is centered between the independent structure of still life composition and ethereal and emotive vignettes.
AUTHOR
Mark S. Kimbrough is a contemporary fine art photographer whose work explores perception, material tension, and the subtle narratives embedded in everyday objects. His photographs have been exhibited in several distinguished galleries throughout Texas, where his practice is recognized for its conceptual rigor and refined visual restraint. Drawing on a background in visual thinking and form-making, his photographic work often occupies the space between realism and abstraction, inviting viewers to reconsider the familiar through a quietly subversive lens.
