It’s like someone decided the Greenland ice cap was just another Sunday bike trail — except the “trail” is an endless path of ice, stretching as far as you can see.
I didn't see this coming at all. I was out on the ice cap, glassing the landscape with my telephoto lens, just taking it all in, when I caught movement in the distance. At first I thought I was seeing things, a cyclist? Out here? You're in one of the most desolate places on the planet, where everything is quiet and still and white, and suddenly there's someone just pedalling across the ice like it's the most normal thing in the world.
It was that contrast that grabbed me, the absurdity of it. A bicycle on the Greenland ice cap. Something so ordinary, so everyday, dropped into this vast, frozen wilderness. It's these weird, unexpected moments that remind me why I do this, why I put myself in these places. You can't plan for this stuff. You just have to be there when it happens.
