In this series of black-and-white photographs, I explore the life stages of sunflowers from bud to fading. The series was photographed in an autumn sunflower field, where different stages of bloom exist in the in-between spaces of growth and withering. I focus particularly on flowers that remain unfinished or have already passed their peak, where form and structure become most pronounced.
Incompleteness draws me in. It evokes a range of emotional states, from melancholy to hope, and sets the imagination in motion.
