Mines tailing (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The town of Val d'Or, located in the province of Quebec, Canada, as its name suggests, was developed with the arrival of gold prospectors in 1933-1934.
I decided to take a series of photographs of the mine tailings found in the area around this town. I was surprised to see the different colors and textures produced by the presence of minerals such as copper sulfate and the oxidation of sulfide minerals.
Despite the abstract beauty of these phenomena, they are also a sign of environmental problems in particularly the contamination of local ecosystems.

For the past seven years, Jean Gaboury have been exploring aerial photography to express other aspects of his creativity. More accessible to the general public, aerial photography allows him to pursue this mission: The art of surprising and be moved.
From high up in the air, he see the world in a very special way. He is always surprised and moved by its reliefs, textures and patterns. He loves to reveal all the beauty of the earth by navigating between the abstract and the unusual.
He developed a unique expertise in the abstract art of aerial photography. He choose the top down approach with the camera. He is looking for particular textures to highlight the magnificence of the earth.
