Night nominee

I created “Infernal Light of the Devil’s Bridge” in collaboration with a fellow artist, capturing the Teufelsbrücke in Kassel at night, fully illuminated through light painting. The bridge, rich in legend and architectural character, serves as both subject and canvas. Using long exposure, I traced and highlighted forms with light to emphasize arches, water flows, and rocks, transforming the familiar structure into an almost otherworldly vision. The work examines the interplay between myth and contemporary artistic expression. By combining historic architecture with selectively illuminated forms, a dialogue emerges between permanence and transience, darkness and illumination. Each light application was carefully placed to guide the viewer across the bridge and surroundings, highlighting structure and atmosphere while suggesting motion and energy. This project also explores perception through light, revealing how we experience space beyond observation. By isolating the bridge at night and using light to enhance shapes and textures, the photograph transcends documentation. It becomes a visual poem inviting reflection. Infernal Light of the Devil’s Bridge transforms a landmark into a scene of mystery, wonder, and ethereal beauty, capturing the fleeting moment in which art and place converge.
