Open Theme 3rd place winner

I composed this photograph during a vacation stay in an unfamiliar neighborhood near my hotel. While wandering around I observed a solitary cloud forming above a row of townhouses, its shape and position creating a striking minimalistic composition against the clear sky.
I wanted to encapsulate the serene isolation of the moment, reflecting the quiet beauty. The cloud, ephemeral and fleeting, contrasts with the enduring townhouses, a juxtaposition inviting to reflect on on time and continuity.

Making photographs for 35 years now as an amateur, started with my own black & white dark room, switched to colour slides and learned to see and frame the shot before pushing the shutter as back then it wasn't a cheap endeavour. Your shot was either ok (sometimes great) or just for the trash bin. Now I'm happily post-processing my digital pictures. Mostly interested in capturing the less standard sometimes unexpected or awkward moments, to evoke emotions. My first rule: wherever you go always have a camera with you!
