On the border between Seoul and Uijeongbu, anti-tank defense walls—relics of a defensive era—stand in silence. Having fulfilled their mission of protecting lives for decades, these structures now deserve a peaceful return to nature. My work captures these military remnants and reimagines them through a surrealist lens, intertwining the cold concrete with lush, vibrant greenery.
By rearranging the forms of the walls and saturating the landscape with an otherworldly vitality, I seek to transform these sites of tension into sanctuaries of rest. This process symbolizes the healing of historical scars and the rebirth of a forgotten space into a new life force.
Ultimately, these images serve as "landscapes of memory." They confront our ongoing history and invite us to question the boundaries between war and peace, humanity and nature, and the past and the present.
