The Darkness That Never Ends
The sun sets over Havana with a beauty both romantic and tragic. Its orange and pink hues paint the crumbling facades of colonial buildings. But as the light fades, so too does the power, and a darker reality seeps into the lives of ordinary Cubans.
For them, nightfall no longer signifies rest but a helpless dance with uncertainty.
A Life That Cannot Be Planned
Imagine a life where nothing can be predicted. Where you hesitate to wash clothes because you might not be able to dry them. Where you postpone cooking, not knowing if the gas will run out.
When the lights flicker back on, it’s like coming up for air. Neighbors shout in joy, televisions hum, and pots clang as meals are hastily prepared.
A ray of hope
There is no clear solution, no magic fix. Cuba remains trapped between its past and an uncharted future, burdened by outdated infrastructure.
But still, there a belief that someday the darkness will end. Until then, Cubans live as they always have—balancing on the knife’s edge between despair and defiance, weaving stories, and songs out of shadows, refusing to let the darkness define them.
