Pomegranate (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Pomegranate Exhalation is a nocturnal portrait made in the Barbican, where an unreadable figure inhabits penumbra and concrete. We search her face for what cannot be fully known; the image withholds answers and offers only traces — clues, hidden in her veil. Her solitude converses with the architecture, which stands like a chorus of human sculptures; tenderness and compassion surface without confession. As viewers, we are invited into a synesthetic register: colour hums, rhythm thickens, pomegranate tones breathe through the frame. The work leaves room for fantasy — what happens next, where will the stranger go; does she belong to these buildings or only pass among them at night? At times she meets herself, dissolving into pomegranate colour to show how the self can be beautiful, and how the Barbican’s night becomes strangely familiar yet still exotic — until colour itself seems to ripen into scent, so welcoming that we can almost taste it.
