I captured this image from the boat as we returned from an excursion, the coastline still bathed in a soft, even light. The lighthouse rises solitary on the bare rock, an unchanging landmark against the pale sky.
Around it, small figures move about, scattered along the undulating rock. Seen from a distance, they seem to be making a pilgrimage toward that silent tower, each at their own pace, yet all drawn by the same vertical line that dominates the landscape.
The sea in the foreground, rippled slightly by the boat's movement, marks the separation between the observer and the walkers.
