The Muted Sea (Series)
DESCRIPTION
This series captured along the fog-clad coast line of Jekyll Island, Georgia on a frigid winter morning just after sunrise. Revered giants lined the beach, sharing their wisdom in faded whispers and fishing piers became ghostly figures in a white veil of mist where sea and sky became one.
AUTHOR
Kelly O’Leary is an artist & photographer, producing intimate moments in nature through her fine art B&W photography. Raised in the Midwestern U.S., she has spent a great deal of her adult life along the Georgia & Carolina coasts. Kelly views the world through a tactile lens, gravitating to organic forms and textural shifts of luminosity, line, & shadow. She is pulled by the lull of the ocean and the solace of quiet spaces where she utilizes B&W photography to remove the extraneous, developing mood & creating deeply emotive visual expressions. With a deep connection to richly diverse coastal environments and ever-enamored by her explorations through nature, she captures quietly evocative moments behind the lens, conveying an alluring calm and a tranquil sense of place. Formally emerging in Fall 2021, Kelly has been published and exhibited internationally, in the U.S. and Europe, with Loosen Art, Rome and PH21, Budapest to name a few. She was a finalist in All About Photo, Nature(2023) and several Dodho Magazine Awards & accompanying books, a multiple-award winner with Best Photography Awards UK, Honorable Mention in Refocus Awards, Honorable Mention in BIFA Awards, Official Selection in IPA Awards, and a Nominee in the B&W.
