Transition (from Latin transitio – “passage”) – the process or period of moving from one state to another.
Transition (2015–2025) is a photographic record of Września, a provincial town in Greater Poland. The project is a documentary exploration of a phenomenon that captures the unstoppable process of change occurring within a territorially limited environment, involving the transformation and disappearance of publicly accessible places and documenting architectural and spatial modifications. It reflects on the transition between what already exists and newly created forms.
Urban structures, when observed over time, become a mirage—an emotional landscape inviting momentary, existential contemplation. They may be replaced or swept away by the relentless process of modernization.
Transition is a journey that allows us to peer into the past, where space can shape the observer’s behavior. Parts of our existence are embedded in specific places, and documenting them becomes a responsibility.
The project was carried out under precise atmospheric conditions, in morning and afternoon light, with deep shadows. Its dual meaning—as an observation of dawn and dusk, conception and death—from the perspective of the observer documenting Transition, is significant.
