On the Edge (Single)
DESCRIPTION
Out one foggy morning with a friend, we waited for the Pigeon Guillemots to come in. For the most part, these adorable seabirds did not come near the shore this morning. Just as we were about to give up, I noticed one bird on our left, perched on the edge of a cliff. I decided to expose for a high key image and take advantage of the drama presented by the lighting and California's seaside cliffs. In post processing, I left the bird's famous red feet visible for a touch of whimsy and because these feet are so important to the their social interactions. I hope that this image will bring appreciation of the species to those who view it.
AUTHOR
I am a wildlife photographer working to capture the natural beauty of birds as well as the struggles they face in a world increasingly dominated by humans. Passionate about ethics and conservation, I primarily focus on shorebirds along the biodiverse California coast. My work emphasizes the birds as much as the dramatic habitat they inhabit.
