I am presenting five selected works from the larger series “Symbolic Language”, which began in 2023 and is still in progress.
The elements of traditional half-timbered architecture carry their original meanings and regional variations. Yet, when the viewer sets aside architectural knowledge and historical associations and begins to see the lines as if they were strokes of calligraphy, perception shifts. Meanings become suspended, unfinished, and a space opens for new signs to appear.
These signs are poetic: they may serve as designations of the non-existent or as visual metaphors of speech not yet spoken. In this way, the viewer is invited to enter into a process of interpretation — to imagine what has not yet existed and to recognize what cannot yet be named.
Several works from the series have already been printed on canvas in the 70 × 90 cm format. The entire cycle is conceived as a coherent project in this unified presentation.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
My official name is Alexey Kuznetsov, but I work under the artistic name Alex Kusnetz. (For registration purposes I use my legal name, but I kindly ask to list my works under my artistic name.)
Born in 1980 in Minsk (Belarus), I have been living in Bernau bei Berlin since 2021.
My main focus is abstract photography. Since 2015 I have participated in numerous group exhibitions. My first solo exhibition took place in 2018 in Minsk under the title “Cycles”, which was dedicated to the abstraction of natural forms and elements.
In Germany, my photographic approach has been shaped by the influence of both traditional and contemporary architecture. From the observation of lines, rhythms, and geometric structures, I developed my own artistic style.
From July 25 to August 25, 2025, I presented my first solo exhibition in Germany. Under the title “Aus der Nähe”, the exhibition took place in the atrium of the historic Martin-Gropius-Krankenhaus in Eberswalde and featured 30 photographic works printed on canvas.
