My loneliness lived inside is a very fulfilling state. Reflecting on what is going on in my life. Engaging in something that relaxes and exciting for me. Finding solutions to situations that are new to me. Expectations that these solutions will be found later, even if I can't see them now.
Sometimes experiencing all of this is scary, difficult. But every time I find a new language to speak within myself, and the most precious relationship in life - with myself - is strengthened, made even stronger.
The means of expression available to me are photography, drawing, collage and embroidery. Additional materials expand the space of the captured self-portrait, filling it with new layers of meanings. In this way, each frame becomes for me a door out of my loneliness, allowing me to take a step outside.

AUTHOR
Lera Zilbershtein was born in Kazan, Russia. Since 2022 moved with her family to Slovenia. She shoot self-portraits that reveal feelings and emotions during the period of emigration. And also moments from the life of her children, their growing up and interaction with nature through the prism and transmission of her own experience.
In self-portraits I explore identification and my states of being. The state of expectation for something to come - a new day, a new week, a new period in life - is very resourceful and at the same time very draining. In the moment when we have not yet turned our face to something coming, we are expect for it within ourselves.
