The photography «The passage» is inspired by my affinity for Arctic Northern Norway, to the light, the darkness, the seasons and my Sami and Kven cultural heritage. In my projects I worked at the intersection of photography, environmental art and sculpture. I illuminated nature with LED lights and built light installations in the landscape. Several techniques and aids were used, including smoke cartridges and long shutter speeds. My wish is to say something about our fragile contemporary age, as well as transform ordinary landscapes into a peaceful and enigmatic place to be.

The force of nature is at the heart of Gjert Rognli`s art practice, he works in a wide range of media including film, photography, sculpture and performance. He often draws in references from his affiliation with Arctic Northern Norway, to light, darkness and the seasons, and the artwork floats between surrealism and mythology. Rognli has received numerous international awards for his work with photography and film, and had many exhibitions at home and abroad, among others at the Louvre museum in Paris.
