Mauvaizeleve (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Mauvaizélève is a photographic series exploring the margins, inner struggles, and social boundaries through a central introspective character, silent yet determined to reclaim their place in a world that sorts and excludes. Each image is crafted as a living painting, blending stylization, symbolism, and textures to reveal invisible struggles or inner light. The new season introduces two complementary characters: Kesh, a sensitive clown and doomed artist, and Mme Blind, a truth-teller whose words can be unsettling. Together, they enrich the narrative and symbolic universe of the series. All sets, props, and costumes are handmade, creating a space where fiction, memory, and social critique intersect. Photography becomes a tool for storytelling and introspection, inviting viewers to project themselves into the story, recognize strength in fragility, and experience quiet resistance as a form of freedom. The project sits at the crossroads of the intimate and the political, urban aesthetics, and contemporary photographic writing, offering a universe where every detail, texture, and light contributes to a living, immersive narrative.
AUTHOR
Graphic designer for nearly a decade, I discovered my creative path through self-taught photography. Transitioning from freelance graphic design and Art Director at HotSauceStudio, I fully immersed myself in independent photography since 2021. The culmination of my artistic journey resulted in the solo exhibition «Mauvaizeleve Season 1» in October 2023 in Montpellier. With this second season, I aim to merge aesthetics, storytelling, and profound reflections on the human condition.
At the core of ‘Mauvaizeleve,’ my photographic project explores individuality in a society seeking uniformity. Initially focused on portraits in the first season, this second series evolves into a visual adventure with elaborate scenes, exploring school and the ‘troublemaker’ as an outsider rejecting imposed limits.
My primary goal is to create aesthetic and narrative images that spark curiosity and contemplation. Concealed details engage the viewer’s inner child while raising questions about individual fulfillment and the education system, often perceived as restrictive.
I aspire to evoke profound reactions by exploring universal situations for Western contemporaries, expressing my subjective vision. ‘Mauvaizeleve’ presents itself as a personal artistic quest, combining aesthetics, storytelling, and reflection on the human condition, urging everyone to question their personal aspirations and uniqueness in a normalizing society.
