This project combines two dimensions: a photographic series and a travel diary. It celebrates craftsmanship — a legacy that deserves to be preserved rather than forgotten. My focus is on the manual labor of artisans. In the past, creativity was limited by manual skill; today, manual skill reaches as far as creativity allows, until machines take over. There is nothing wrong with that — machines have taken us where hands alone could not. Yet the paradox remains: without manual skill, machines would not exist.
In Ἥφαιστος (Hephaestus), God of Craftsmanship", the central subject is the craftsman at work, with particular attention to hands — symbols of skill and creation. Every craft has its own gestures, and every craftsman carries a unique story within their hands: ribs, calluses, and dirt engraved like verses on a blank page.
The project will combine digital and analogue photography to emphasize the coexistence of past and present, old and new. This same dialogue inspired me to turn the project into a journey — a travel diary. Traveling on a Royal Enfield motorcycle perfectly embodies this idea, as the brand itself represents a timeless harmony between machine and craftsmanship.
