I have always suffered from insomnia. My relationship with the night was built slowly, with effort.
At first I feared it; later, when I was able to go out alone, I began to wander and observe it.
For me, the night is a place rather than a time. I feel that the darkness of night is tangible — it is not merely the absence of light, it is matter, it is enchantment. It evokes contrasting impressions: unease and fascination, solitude, mystery, and emotional tension.
In my nocturnal wanderings, I let my lived experience reveal itself, without searching for anything, without a plan — only impressions that seduce me in that moment: places devoid of aesthetic interest, façades, street lamps, windows. I find lights that urge me to dig into the darkness with my gaze, to discover something — perhaps a secret.
For example, I like to imagine that when we feel emotions, the heart lights up, breaking the darkness within us with a flash of living light — a pulse like the one traced on a road by the red headlights of moving cars and captured by the camera. One of the many metaphors of the night.

RUMMAGE IN THE DARK (Series)
DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
For over 30 years, I have worked as a master craftsman photographer, specializing in photography applied to commerce and industry.
Professionally, my work spans architecture, jewelry, industrial monographs, portraiture, and textile photography.
Throughout this long period, alongside my professional activity, I have carefully nurtured reflections and personal projects to be expressed through images—works I was unable to realize due to the intense commitment required by my profession.
In recent years, a strong desire has emerged to develop the ideas I had accumulated, re-examining their meaning and compelling myself to carve out the necessary time to bring them to life and present them to the public.
Awards and Recognition:
1986 – Recognition for excellence in professional portrait photography at the Kodak European Gold Award.
2014 – Arte Laguna Prize, international competition aimed at promoting Contemporary Art; awarded an artist residency.
2015 – Combat Prize, a leading voice in the international art scene; selected artist.
2021 – Siena Awards, Highly Commended recognition.
Exhibitions:
Numm Contemporary Art Gallery, Casale Monferrato; Arte Fiera Genova (by Numm Art); Cefalù – Spazio Eventi Il Bastione; Startamsterdam Gallery, Amsterdam.
