Icons is a series of still lifes made against a black background, where ordinary organic forms are treated as presences rather than objects. Isolated from context, each subject becomes a kind of icon—part botanical, part anatomical—inviting a slower, more intimate way of seeing.
The work focuses on shape, colour, and the small dramas of gesture: tendrils reaching, petals folding, surfaces bruising into light. By removing environment and scale, the images move away from description and toward contemplation. What remains is a concentrated encounter with form—at once delicate and intense, familiar and slightly strange.
Although the materials are simple, the intention is precise: to make photographs that feel like specimens held in suspension, where attention can rest on texture, contour, and the subtle energy of living matter. Across the set, the variations behave like a quiet taxonomy—vessels, flames, orbs, openings—each image offering a different kind of stillness.
Together, the series proposes that the smallest forms can carry a ceremonial weight when they are given space, darkness, and time.
